Victor Goitia Serra from generation 2016-2018 shares about his career after EMTM.
How did your career develop after EMTM? How has the EMTM experience influenced your path?
After completing the European Master in Tourism Management (EMTM), I embarked on an enriching journey as a destination marketer, first in Costa Daurada and now as Marketing Director at the Costa Brava Girona DMO. This evolution in my career reflects my passion for sustainable tourism development and effective destination promotion.
The EMTM program provided me with a strong foundation in tourism theory and global market dynamics, equipping me with the tools to excel in the industry. Through the program’s multidisciplinary approach, I gained critical insights into the challenges of tourism management in the 21st century, particularly the need to balance economic, environmental, and social factors. The program also enhanced my analytical and strategic thinking, which I’ve applied consistently throughout my career.
A pivotal moment was my internship at the Costa Brava Girona DMO during the master’s program. This experience introduced me to the organization’s innovative approach to destination marketing and gave me hands-on experience in project management, stakeholder collaboration, and campaign execution. It also allowed me to build relationships with key industry players, which proved instrumental when I later returned to the DMO in a leadership role.
Now, as Marketing Director, I lead a dynamic team focused on promoting the region’s unique blend of nature, gastronomy, and cultural heritage. Drawing from my EMTM education and career experiences, I am committed to positioning the Costa Brava as a model of sustainable tourism while enhancing its appeal to international markets and to keep enjoying the tourism sector as I have been doing throught my professional life.
