In the blog series "EMTM Thesis Diary" students tell us about their fourth semester experience doing research and writing their master's thesis in the destination of their choice.
Laura Schill from generation 2021-2023 shares her passion for wine tourism and why she decided to spend the semester in Denmark.
As the daughter of a winemaker, my whole life has been revolving around wine: participating in the harvest, being “Luxembourg Queen of Riesling 2017”, studying wine tourism topics, working as a tourism coordinator for a wine destination, enjoying the convivial spirit of wine events and nights... It has always been my passion to show the beauty of the wine universe to other people. And that is the reason why I decided to write my Master's thesis in Copenhagen (a city and country I fell in love with) and explore Denmark’s potential as a brand-new wine destination.
My supportive supervisor motivated me to take a very practical and explorative approach which is why I am currently traveling around Denmark and Copenhagen, visiting wineries and wine bars, talking to wine experts, tourism developers, and winemakers, and digging into wine blogs… It gives me the chance to meet a lot of inspiring people and see unexpected, beautiful places!
In the meantime, it only makes sense that I started a remote internship at Winetourism.com, a leading online platform for wine experiences. Here, I have the opportunity to work on various projects related to marketing, content creation, bookings, sales, and partnerships.
